Manzi maintains solid margin in World Supersport championship after challenging weekend in Most

Stefano Manzi finished sixth on Sunday afternoon in the second World Supersport race at the Autodrom Most. The Italian briefly led the race but had to give up ground in the second half, ultimately crossing the finish line in sixth place. His teammate Yuki Okamoto was once again making good progress, but in the thirteenth lap he crashed after contact with another rider, eventually finishing 31st.

After the disappointment of Race 1, where Manzi crashed out, the Italian and the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team were determined to bounce back in Race 2. Manzi got off to a strong start and was leading after three laps, holding his own well within the lead group. However, the 26-year-old rider dropped back in the second half of the race and eventually finished sixth. With a total of 185 points, Manzi still holds a solid lead in the World Supersport championship, with a forty-point advantage over second place.

Yuki Okamoto finished seventeenth in Race 1 and was aiming for points in Race 2. The Japanese rider again gained multiple positions early on and made his way into the top twenty. However, in lap thirteen things went wrong as he crashed in Turn 20 following contact with another rider. Okamoto picked up his Yamaha YZF-R9 and finished the race, but was unable to score points.

Stefano Manzi (P6 / +6,494):
“For sure this was not the weekend we hoped for. Before we arrived here we were optimistic, and even in the changeable conditions on Friday and Saturday morning we were quick. Yesterday it was a big shame to crash in the first race, and today I struggled a lot with the rear tyre. I wasn’t able to fight and I didn’t end up on the podium. I tried to keep the rear tyre in the best possible conditions but it didn’t help me to ride like I wanted. I am looking forward to the next race, which is my home round in Misano. We go back to work and try to be in the best shape for Misano.”

Yuki Okamoto (P31 / +1 Lap):
“Today was better than yesterday but unfortunately I was hit by another rider, and therefore I crashed. We had two tough races this weekend but we will keep working, and hopefully I can make a big step for the next round in Misano. I want to thank everyone for their support.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“It was a tough day for us today. Somewhat unexpectedly, we weren’t able to do what we thought we could with Stefano during the race. There’s clearly some homework to be done on our side. Yuki had a good start but unfortunately crashed. He was able to finish the race, but it didn’t result in any points. In the end, it’s been a disappointing weekend here in Most, even though we started off very well on Friday. Throughout a season, some weekends will be more difficult — that’s just part of racing. Fortunately, we didn’t lose anything in the championship regarding Stefano’s lead, and Yuki gained more experience on a new circuit this weekend. There are plenty of things for us to work on ahead of the Misano weekend, and we’ll put a plan in place to come back fighting as we’re used to.”

The next round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place on the weekend of 13–15 June at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy.

 


Manzi behoudt solide voorsprong in World Supersport kampioenschap na lastig weekend in Most

Stefano Manzi is zondagmiddag als zesde geëindigd in de tweede World Supersport race op het Autodrom Most. De Italiaan reed nog aan de leiding maar moest in het tweede gedeelte van de race terrein prijsgeven, waarna hij uiteindelijk als zesde de finish passeerde. Teamgenoot Yuki Okamoto was wederom bezig met een goede opmars maar in de dertiende ronde kwam hij ten val na contact met een andere rijder, waarna hij uiteindelijk als 31e over de streep kwam.

Na teleurstelling in Race 1 met een valpartij voor Stefano Manzi waren de Italiaan en het Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team erop gebrand om in Race 2 terug te slaan. Manzi begon sterk en reed na drie ronden aan de leiding in de wedstrijd, waarbij hij zich goed staande wist te houden in een groep. Echter zou de 26-jarige coureur terugvallen in de tweede helft van de race, waarna hij uiteindelijk als zesde over de finish kwam. Met een totaal van 185 punten staat Manzi nog steeds stevig aan de leiding in het World Supersport kampioenschap, met een voorsprong van veertig punten op de nummer twee.

Yuki Okamoto kwam in Race 1 naar de zeventiende plaats en mikte in Race 2 daardoor op punten. Opnieuw maakte de Japanner al gauw meerdere posities goed en nestelde hij zich in de top twintig. In de dertiende ronde ging het echter mis doordat hij ten val kwam in bocht 20 na contact met een andere rijder. Okamoto pakte zijn Yamaha YZF-R9 op en reed de race nog uit, maar punten werden hierdoor niet gescoord.

Stefano Manzi (P6 / +6,494):
“Zeker weten was dit niet het weekend waar we op gehoopt hadden. Voorafgaand aan ons bezoek hier waren we optimistisch, en zelfs in de wisselvallige omstandigheden op vrijdag en zaterdagochtend waren we snel. Gisteren was het ontzettend jammer om te crashen in de eerste race, en vandaag had ik veel moeite met de achterband. Ik kon niet vechten en eindigde niet op het podium. Ik heb geprobeerd de achterband in zo goed mogelijke conditie te houden, maar dat hielp me niet om te rijden zoals ik wilde. Ik kijk uit naar de volgende race, mijn thuiswedstrijd in Misano. We gaan weer aan het werk en proberen in topvorm te zijn voor Misano.”

Yuki Okamoto (P31 / +1 Lap):
“Vandaag was beter dan gisteren maar helaas werd ik geraakt door een andere rijder, waardoor ik crashte. We hadden twee zware races dit weekend, maar we blijven werken, en hopelijk kan ik een grote stap zetten voor de volgende ronde in Misano. Ik wil iedereen bedanken voor hun steun.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“Het was een lastige dag voor ons vandaag. Enigszins onverwacht konden we in de wedstrijd niet doen wat we dachten te kunnen met Stefano. Er is duidelijk huiswerk te doen aan onze kant. Yuki had een goede start maar kwam helaas ten val. Hij heeft de wedstrijd nog wel uit kunnen rijden maar het leverde dus geen punten op. Uiteindelijk is het toch een teleurstellend weekend geweest hier in Most terwijl we eigenlijk op vrijdag heel goed begonnen waren. Er horen ook wat mindere weekenden bij gedurende een seizoen, soms is het niet anders. In het kampioenschap hebben we geen schade geleden wat betreft de voorsprong van Stefano en Yuki heeft dit weekend weer meters gemaakt op een nieuw circuit. Er zijn genoeg dingen om aan te werken voorafgaand aan het weekend in Misano en we gaan een plan maken om daar weer aan te kunnen vallen zoals we gewend zijn.”

De volgende ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship vindt plaats in het weekend van 13 t/m 15 juni op het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italië.

Okamoto climbs to 17th in Race 1, Manzi crashes from the lead in Most

Yuki Okamoto finished seventeenth in the first World Supersport race at the Autodrom Most on Saturday afternoon. The Japanese rider managed to qualify in the morning and impressively worked his way up from 26th on the grid. Stefano Manzi had a very strong start to the first race at the Czech circuit but crashed out in the seventh lap while leading.

After a difficult qualifying day on Friday, the first World Supersport race of the weekend took place on Saturday at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic. Starting from fourth on the grid, Stefano Manzi had a great launch and quickly took the lead. The Italian came under heavy pressure from his rivals but defended well and managed to maintain his position at the front in the early stages.

Unfortunately, things went wrong in the seventh lap when Manzi lost the front of his Yamaha YZF-R9 in turn 16. He was able to pick the bike back up and rejoin the race, but it meant he could no longer score points. Nevertheless, Manzi remains the leader in the World Championship with a 36-point advantage, as his competitors were unable to fully capitalise on his misfortune. Manzi set the fourth-fastest lap time of the race, which means he will start Race 2 from fourth position again on Sunday afternoon.

Due to the changing weather conditions, Okamoto was unable to qualify for Saturday’s race on Friday. However, the Japanese rider managed to secure a spot on the grid during the warm-up session and started Race 1 from 26th. From there, the 25-year-old rider worked his way forward and eventually crossed the finish line in seventeenth place. Okamoto will start from the 26th place on the grid in Race 2 once again.

Yuki Okamoto (P17 / +35,232):
“Today I did my first laps in dry conditions on the Autodrom Most. We only had ten minutes in the morning warm up to qualify for Race 1, and fortunately I made it. However, it meant that I had to start from P26 on the grid and that made it very difficult, although I still managed to finish in 17th place. We need to make a plan for tomorrow and then hopefully we can perform better. I’m grateful to the team for their support.”

Stefano Manzi (P26 / +4 laps):
“It’s a bad day for us because I crashed in today’s race. I made a small mistake with less pressure on the front brakes whilst hitting a bump, and therefore there was less load on the front tyre which I then lost. It’s a big shame because I was leading the race and felt very good. However, we need to keep our heads up high and come back stronger tomorrow. For now we will analyse everything and then tomorrow there’s another warm up and another race, in which we need to go forward.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“Unfortunately, today was the day Stefano had his first zero of the season. We were leading the race and had prepared a solid race strategy. However, because he lost front of the bike, he was immediately out of contention for points. These things can happen, and we’ve managed to retain the lead in the championship. Stefano is still in top form, and everyone could see how fast he was. We’ll regroup and, as always, we’ll be back tomorrow.

Yuki had a good race today. He had to come from far back, but in the end he was able to climb up to seventeenth place. Hopefully he can make the step into the points tomorrow. We want to continue the upward trend we’ve shown in the past few races, and hopefully that will result in some points tomorrow.”

The second World Supersport race at the Autodrom Most will start on Sunday afternoon at 12:35.

 


Okamoto maakt opmars naar 17e plaats in Race 1, Manzi crasht vanuit leidende positie in Most

Yuki Okamoto is zaterdagmiddag als zeventiende gefinisht in de eerste World Supersport race op het Autodrom Most. De Japanner wist zich ’s ochtends te kwalificeren waarna hij vanaf de 26e positie uiteindelijk nog knap naar voren kwam. Stefano Manzi begon ijzersterk aan de eerste race op het Tsjechische circuit maar ging in de zevende ronde onderuit terwijl hij aan de leiding reed.

Na een lastige kwalificatiedag op vrijdag werd zaterdag de eerste World Supersport race van het weekend verreden op het Autodrom Most in Tsjechië. Vanaf de vierde plaats op de grid kwam Stefano Manzi goed weg en binnen enkele ogenblikken had hij al de leiding in handen genomen. De Italiaan werd flink belaagd door zijn concurrenten maar wist zich knap te verdedigen en hield in de openingsfase de koppositie vast.

Helaas ging het in de zevende ronde mis toen Manzi de voorkant van de Yamaha YZF-R9 verloor in bocht 16. De Italiaan kon de machine nog oppakken en zijn weg vervolgen maar het betekende dat er geen punten meer konden worden gescoord. Hoe dan ook staat Manzi nog aan de leiding in het wereldkampioenschap met een voorsprong van 36 punten doordat de concurrentie niet maximaal wist te profiteren. In de race reed Manzi de vierde snelste rondetijd waardoor hij opnieuw vanaf de vierde startplaats aan Race 2 mag beginnen op zondagmiddag.

Vanwege de wisselende weersomstandigheden had Okamoto zich op vrijdag nog niet gekwalificeerd voor de eerste race op zaterdag. De Japanner kreeg dat voor elkaar in de warm up sessie waardoor hij vanaf de 26e plaats op de grid aan Race 1 mocht beginnen. Vanaf die positie kwam de 25-jarige coureur uiteindelijk als zeventiende over de finish. Okamoto zal ook Race 2 weer vanaf de 26e plaats moeten beginnen.

Yuki Okamoto (P17 / +35,232):
“Vandaag heb ik mijn eerste ronden in droge omstandigheden gereden op het Autodrom Most. We hadden slechts tien minuten in de ochtend-warm-up om ons te kwalificeren voor Race 1, en gelukkig is dat gelukt. Dat betekende echter dat ik vanaf P26 op de grid moest starten en dat maakte het erg moeilijk, hoewel ik er toch in slaagde om als 17e te eindigen. We moeten een plan maken voor morgen en hopelijk kunnen we dan beter presteren. Ik ben het team dankbaar voor hun steun.”

Stefano Manzi (P26 / +4 laps):
“Het is een slechte dag voor ons omdat ik vandaag gecrasht ben in de race. Ik maakte een kleine fout met minder druk op de voorremmen terwijl ik over een hobbel reed, waardoor er minder gewicht op de voorband zat en ik deze vervolgens verloor. Het is echt jammer, want ik leidde de race en voelde me erg goed. We moeten echter onze hoofden omhooghouden en morgen sterker terugkomen. Voor nu gaan we alles analyseren en morgen is er weer een warm-up en een nieuwe race, waarin we vooruit moeten.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“Helaas was vandaag de dag dat Stefano zijn eerste nulscore van het seizoen behaalde. We reden aan de leiding en hadden een goed strijdplan voorbereid. Doordat hij de voorkant van de machine verloor lag hij wat punten betreft meteen uit de wedstrijd. Zoiets kan gebeuren en we hebben de leiding in het kampioenschap behouden. Stefano verkeert nog steeds in bloedvorm en iedereen heeft kunnen zien hoe snel hij was. We gaan ons herpakken en zoals altijd zullen we er morgen weer staan.

Yuki heeft vandaag een goede race gereden. Hij moest van ver komen maar kon uiteindelijk nog opklimmen naar de zeventiende positie. Hopelijk kan hij morgen de stap maken naar de punten. De tendens die we in de afgelopen wedstrijden hebben ingezet willen we voortzetten, en hopelijk resulteert dat morgen in een aantal punten.”

De tweede World Supersport race op het Autodrom Most gaat zondagmiddag om 12:35 uur van start.

Mixed fortunes in Most with Manzi on second row as Okamoto faces setbacks

Stefano Manzi qualified fourth on Friday afternoon for the first World Supersport race at the Autodrom Most. The opening day at the Czech circuit was largely defined by unpredictable conditions, which the Italian capitalised on with a bold strategy during the Superpole session. Teammate Yuki Okamoto had a clearly more difficult day and ended up 28th.

The first day of the Czech World Superbike round at the Autodrom Most began Friday morning with a wet track and fairly low temperatures. These created treacherous conditions where mistakes were easily made. In the afternoon the Superpole session was held, and track conditions were not much different.

Championship leader Stefano Manzi struck early, setting a 1’38.983 on slicks, which ultimately placed him fourth. The Italian made no mistakes, securing a strong starting position for Race 1 on Saturday afternoon.

Yuki Okamoto faced a tough day, as he not only had to deal with the tricky track conditions but also had to learn the complex layout of the Autodrom Most. A crash and the changing weather conditions meant he finished 28th on the timesheets.

Stefano Manzi (P4 – 1’38.983 / +0,840):
“We had a pretty good day. We had some trouble with the weather as it started raining just minutes before both sessions. In the morning we didn’t use slicks and in the rain we were quite fast. In the afternoon I made the call to use slicks early on, which was quite tricky in the beginning with still some wet patches. It ended up being the right strategy and it resulted in a 4th place. Maybe we could have fought for pole position but the second row is okay. For sure I want to do better, but it’s definitely not bad to end the day like this.”

Yuki Okamoto (P28 – 1’45.422 / +7,279):
“I am disappointed after today’s sessions. I want to say sorry to the team for my early crash in Free Practice. I wasn’t able to have a good performance in Superpole, because the track conditions were very difficult for me. I hope that tomorrow will be a better day for us.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“Mixed feelings for us after this first day in Most. Stefano performed very well in the Superpole session under conditions that were extremely difficult to assess. He kept a cool head, which shows that he is currently in very good form. He switched to slicks at the right moment and built up his qualifying session excellently. In the final lap he was on his way to pole position, but unfortunately, he couldn’t complete that lap due to traffic. To secure a second-row starting position in such conditions is just very good. He stayed out of trouble and he is ready to race. He has the speed in all conditions, so I’m confident he can be competitive tomorrow.

For Yuki, it was a very tough day. It’s his first time riding here in Most, and he had an unfortunate crash during free practice, which cost him twenty minutes of the session. That means you’re constantly playing catch-up. Due to the changing conditions, he hasn’t qualified yet, so the challenge for tomorrow’s warm-up session is to ensure he gets on the grid. That’s the first step, and from there we need to keep building throughout the rest of the weekend.”

The first World Supersport race at the Autodrom Most over nineteen laps will start Saturday afternoon at 12:35h.

 

 

Manzi kwalificeert zich op tweede rij in Most, moeizame vrijdag voor Okamoto

Stefano Manzi heeft zich vrijdagmiddag als vierde gekwalificeerd voor de eerste World Supersport race op het Autodrom Most. De eerste dag op het Tsjechische circuit werd grotendeels gekenmerkt door wisselvallige omstandigheden, waarbij de Italiaan in de Superpole sessie met een gewaagde strategie gebruik van maakte. Teamgenoot Yuki Okamoto had een duidelijk moeizamere dag en eindigde als 28e.

De eerste dag van de Tsjechische World Superbike ronde op het Autodrom Most begon vrijdagochtend met een natte baan en behoorlijk lage temperaturen. Die zorgden voor verraderlijke omstandigheden waardoor een fout snel gemaakt kon worden. ’s Middags werd de Superpole sessie verreden en waren de baanomstandigheden niet heel anders.

WK leider Stefano Manzi sloeg vroeg toe en reed op slicks een 1’38.983, waarmee hij zich uiteindelijk als vierde zou kwalificeren. De Italiaan maakte geen fouten en zorgde daarmee voor een goede uitgangspositie voor Race 1 op zaterdagmiddag.

Yuki Okamoto zou een lastige dag tegemoet gaan, doordat hij naast de moeilijke baanomstandigheden ook nog eens het complexe Autodrom Most moest leren kennen. Vanwege een valpartij en de wisselvallige weersomstandigheden eindigde hij uiteindelijk als 28e op de tijdlijst.

Stefano Manzi (P4 – 1’38.983 / +0,840):
“We hadden een redelijk goede dag. We hadden wat last van het weer, want het begon een paar minuten voor beide sessies te regenen. In de ochtend gebruikten we geen slicks en in de regen waren we behoorlijk snel. In de middag besloot ik al vroeg om slicks te gebruiken, wat in het begin best lastig was vanwege de nog natte plekken op het circuit. Uiteindelijk bleek dat de juiste strategie en het leverde een vierde plaats op. Misschien hadden we kunnen vechten voor pole position, maar de tweede rij is prima. Natuurlijk wil ik het beter doen, maar het is zeker geen slechte manier om de dag af te sluiten.”

Yuki Okamoto (P28 – 1’45.422 / +7,279):
“Ik ben teleurgesteld na de sessies van vandaag. Ik wil mijn excuses aanbieden aan het team voor mijn vroege crash tijdens de vrije training. Ik kon geen goede prestatie neerzetten in de Superpole, omdat de omstandigheden op het circuit voor mij erg lastig waren. Ik hoop dat morgen een betere dag voor ons wordt.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“Gemengde gevoelens voor ons na deze eerste dag in Most. Stefano heeft zeer goed gepresteerd in de Superpole sessie onder omstandigheden die uiterst moeilijk in te schatten waren. Hij wist zijn hoofd hiel knap koel te houden en dat laat zien dat hij momenteel in een zeer goede vorm verkeert. Hij ging op het juiste moment naar slicks en bouwde zijn kwalificatie uitstekend op. In de laatste ronde was hij op weg naar pole position maar helaas kon hij die ronde niet afmaken wegens verkeer. Als je in zulke omstandigheden uiteindelijk een startplaats op de tweede rij bemachtigt is dat gewoon goed. Hij is uit de problemen gebleven en klaar om te racen. Hij beschikt over de snelheid in alle omstandigheden dus ik weet zeker dat hij morgen competitief kan zijn.

Voor Yuki was het een heel zware dag. Het is voor hem de eerste keer dat hij hier in Most rijdt en kwam in de vrije training ongelukkig ten val, waardoor hij twintig minuten van de sessie verloor. Dat betekent dat je dan achter de feiten aanloopt. Vanwege de wisselende omstandigheden is hij nog niet gekwalificeerd dus is het de uitdaging voor morgen in de warm up sessie om ervoor te zorgen dat hij op de grid staat. Dat is de eerste stap, daarna moeten we verder bouwen in de rest van het weekend.”

De eerste World Supersport race op het Autodrom Most over negentien ronden gaat zaterdagmiddag om 12:35 uur van start.

Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing wants to maintain momentum in Most

This upcoming weekend, the fifth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic. After a very successful weekend at the Cremona Circuit, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing heads to the Czech circuit for the next challenge with World Championship leader Stefano Manzi and Yuki Okamoto.

The 4.2-kilometer-long Autodrom Most has been on the World Superbike calendar since 2021. The circuit features no fewer than 21 corners—twelve right-handers and nine left-handers. While the past four race weekends at the Czech circuit were all held in July, this year Most appears on the calendar two months earlier.

Stefano Manzi heads to Most as the championship leader with a 44-point advantage. The Italian claimed his first double victory of the season in Cremona and has three wins and five second-place finishes to his name after eight races. This means he has stood on the podium in every race in 2025 and has not finished lower than second. Just like in previous race weekends, the goal in Most will again be to further extend his lead in the World Supersport championship.

Yuki Okamoto continues to make progress and was rewarded in Cremona with his first two World Championship points. The Japanese rider is getting to know the World Supersport Championship and the Yamaha YZF-R9 better and better, even though Autodrom Most will once again be a circuit he has never ridden before. For him, the goal this coming weekend will once again be to improve his pace in every session.

Stefano Manzi:
“It’s lovely when we don’t have big breaks in between races, so I’m very that we have another race weekend ahead of us. Most is a track that I like, so I’m looking forward to go there again. The weekend in Cremona was amazing for us, so I hope to be able to continue in this way. Let’s hope for another good weekend again.”

Yuki Okamoto:
“The Autodrom Most will be another new circuit for me. After the race weekend in Cremona I stayed in Spain and spent most of the time training. I want to use this experience for the upcoming race weekend, and hopefully the team and I can make a big step.”

“We’re happy to be back in Most. The weather forecast looks good, and it’s always interesting to race here because it’s a beautiful circuit with a great crowd, which makes racing even more enjoyable. Yuki is on an upward trajectory, and with him we aim to finish in the points again. The team and the riders are ready, so everything is in place to make it another great weekend.”

The race weekend at the Autodrom Most begins on Friday morning with a free practice session, followed by the Superpole session starting at 13:55 in the afternoon. On Saturday morning, there will first be a warm-up session, after which Race 1 over 19 laps will begin at 12:35 in the afternoon. On Sunday, the same schedule applies as on Saturday, with a warm-up session in the morning and Race 2 starting at 12:35 in the afternoon.

 


Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing wil momentum vasthouden in Most

Dit aankomende weekend wordt de vijfde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Autodrom Most in Tsjechië. Na een zeer succesvol weekend op het Cremona Circuit gaat Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing met WK leider Stefano Manzi en Yuki Okamoto de volgende uitdaging aan op het Tsjechische circuit.

Het 4,2 kilometer lange Autodrom Most staat sinds 2021 op de World Superbike kalender. Het circuit telt maar liefst 21 bochten waarvan twaalf rechtsaf en elf linksaf. Nadat de afgelopen vier raceweekenden op het Tsjechische circuit allemaal in juli werden verreden staat Most dit jaar twee maanden eerder op de kalender.

Stefano Manzi gaat met een voorsprong van 44 punten in het wereldkampioenschap als leider richting Most. De Italiaan behaalde in Cremona zijn eerste dubbel van het seizoen en heeft na acht races maar liefst drie overwinningen en vijf tweede plaatsen achter zijn naam staan, waardoor hij nog steeds in alle races in 2025 op het podium en niet lager dan tweede is geëindigd. Net als in voorgaande raceweekenden zal ook in Most het doel zijn om de voorsprong in het World Supersport kampioenschap verder te vergroten.

Yuki Okamoto blijft progressie boeken en beloonde dat in Cremona met zijn eerste twee WK punten. De Japanner begint het World Supersport kampioenschap en de Yamaha YZF-R9 steeds beter te leren kennen, ook al zal het Autodrom Most weer een circuit zijn waar Okamoto nog niet eerder is geweest. Het zal voor hem daardoor ook komend weekend opnieuw een kwestie zijn van sneller worden in iedere sessie.

Stefano Manzi:
“Het is heerlijk wanneer we geen grote pauzes hebben tussen de races, dus ik ben erg blij dat we weer een raceweekend voor de boeg hebben. Most is een circuit waar ik graag rijd, dus ik kijk ernaar uit om daar weer naartoe te gaan. Het weekend in Cremona was geweldig voor ons, dus ik hoop dat we op deze manier door kunnen gaan. Laten we hopen op weer een goed weekend.”

Yuki Okamoto:

Het raceweekend op het Autodrom Most begint op vrijdagochtend met een vrije training waarna de Superpole sessie vrijdagmiddag om 13:55 uur van start gaat. Zaterdagochtend is er eerst nog een warm-up sessie waarna Race 1 over 19 ronden ’s middags om 12:35 uur begint. Op zondag geldt hetzelfde tijdschema als op zaterdag met ‘s ochtends een warm up sessie en Race 2 ‘s middags om 12:35 uur.

Manzi takes another epic win at Cremona and delivers first R9 double, Okamoto scores first WorldSSP points

Stefano Manzi claimed victory once again in the second World Supersport race on Sunday afternoon at the Cremona Circuit in Italy. The Italian rider was heavily challenged by the competition again, but just like in Race 1, he proved to be the strongest. This marked his third win of the season and his first double victory of the year, which also happens to be the first double win for the new Yamaha R9. Yuki Okamoto scored his first World Supersport points by finishing in fourteenth place.

It was another warm Sunday afternoon for Race 2 of the World Supersport class at the Cremona Circuit. Starting from second on the grid, Manzi got off to a strong start and immediately grabbed the lead. However, he soon had to relinquish it and began his pursuit of the front again. In the closing stages of the race, Manzi demonstrated just how strong both he and the R9 can be, retaking the lead with three laps to go. Despite multiple attacks from his rivals, the two-time WorldSSP runner-up crossed the line first once again.

This victory marked Manzi’s third win of the season, maintaining his 100% podium record in 2025. It is his thirteenth career win in the World Supersport category and his twelfth with Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing. It was also the third time in his career he has taken a double win in a WorldSSP race weekend—and the first double for the new Yamaha YZF-R9. With 17 consecutive podium finishes in the World Supersport class, Manzi has now etched a new record in the history books.

Okamoto also had a strong start, moving up from 22nd on the grid to 19th right away. The Japanese rider showed solid pace throughout the race and continued to make progress as the laps went on. In the final stages, he had to battle for position but ultimately crossed the line in fourteenth. It is his best result so far and earns him his first two points in the World Championship.

“I feel amazing, because it’s difficult to be very happy after Race 1 with this schedule as you’re still focused on Race 2. Now I’m very happy and clearly it has been an amazing weekend for me. Taking a double win at home and achieving the first double with the R9 is just fantastic. It was a very demanding race again today, but in the end I was able to take the win again. In the final part of the race I was just thinking about the victory, and I know the final corner was a spot where I could attack. It paid off so I’m quite happy about it. Hopefully we can continue this momentum into Most.”

Yuki Okamoto (P14 / +23,263):
“I finished in 14th place and finally I scored some points. After the two crashes on Friday, this feels like a very positive result. I really appreciate the team’s hard work and I am very grateful to everyone who’s supporting me. I will give it my all again during the next round in Most.”

“It has been a fantastic weekend for the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team here in Cremona, with two victories for Stefano and Yuki scoring his first points in Race 2. We know he is new to Europe and that his competitors have much more experience, but he is proving that he’s made of real racing spirit.

Stefano was razor-sharp again today and gave everything to take the win. He rode with great control, so hats off to him. This has been the best weekend we’ve had with him in the past three seasons, so full credit to him and the people on his side of the garage. Overall, we can be very happy with the points we scored, which puts us in the lead of both the riders’ and teams’ championships. It was a perfect weekend for us.”

The next round of the World Superbike Championship will take place from May 16–18 at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.

 

 

Manzi pakt nog een epische zege in Cremona en bezorgt R9 eerste dubbel, Okamoto scoort eerste WorldSSP punten

Stefano Manzi heeft zondagmiddag ook de tweede World Supersport race gewonnen op het Cremona Circuit in Italië. De Italiaan werd opnieuw flink belaagd door de concurrentie maar bleek net als in Race 1 weer de sterkste te zijn. Manzi behaalde hiermee zijn derde overwinning van het seizoen en zijn eerste dubbel van het jaar, wat tevens de eerste dubbel is van de nieuwe Yamaha R9. Yuki Okamoto scoorde zijn eerste World Supersport punten door als veertiende te eindigen.

Zondagmiddag was het ook voor Race 2 van de World Supersport klasse weer behoorlijk warm op het Cremona Circuit. Vanaf de tweede startplaats kwam Manzi goed weg en greep hij meteen de koppositie. Deze moest hij echter al gauw weer afstaan waarna de 26-jarige coureur de achtervolging inzette. In de slotfase van de race liet Manzi zien hoe sterk hij en de R9 kunnen zijn en met nog drie ronden te gaan nam hij de leiding weer over. Er volgden nog meerdere aanvallen van zijn concurrenten maar opnieuw kwam de tweevoudig vicewereldkampioen als winnaar over de streep.

Hiermee heeft Manzi alweer zijn derde overwinning van het seizoen behaald en blijft zijn percentage van podiumfinishes in 2025 op 100% staan. Het is zijn dertiende overwinning in de World Supersport klasse en zijn twaalfde in dienst van Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing. Het is de derde keer in zijn carrière dat hij een dubbele overwinning in een WorldSSP raceweekend heeft behaald en de eerste van de nieuwe Yamaha YZF-R9. Met 17 podiumfinishes op rij in de World Supersport klasse heeft Manzi nu een nieuw record op zijn naam geschreven.

Okamoto maakte ook een goede start van de 22e plaats op de grid en schoof al meteen op naar P19. De Japanner wist wederom een goed tempo aan de dag te leggen en naarmate de race vorderde steeds verder op te schuiven. In de slotfase moest ook hij het duel aangaan waarna hij uiteindelijk als veertiende over de finish kwam. Het is zijn beste resultaat tot dusver en hiermee heeft hij zijn eerste twee WK punten gescoord.

“Ik voel me geweldig, want het is moeilijk om na Race 1 al echt blij te zijn met dit weekendschema, omdat je nog steeds gefocust bent op Race 2. Nu ben ik echt blij en het is duidelijk dat het een fantastisch weekend voor mij was. Een dubbele overwinning behalen op eigen bodem en de eerste dubbelzege met de R9 is gewoon fantastisch. Het was vandaag opnieuw een zware race, maar uiteindelijk kon ik opnieuw winnen. In het laatste deel van de race dacht ik alleen nog maar aan de overwinning, en ik wist dat de laatste bocht een plek was waar ik kon aanvallen. Het heeft zich uitbetaald, dus ik ben er erg blij mee. Hopelijk kunnen we dit momentum vasthouden in Most.”

Yuki Okamoto (P14 / +23,263):
“Ik ben als 14e gefinisht en heb eindelijk wat punten gescoord. Na de twee crashes op vrijdag voelt dit als een heel positief resultaat. Ik denk dat iedereen het beste in elkaar naar boven heeft gehaald. Yuki is in iedere sessie sneller geworden ondanks zijn twee crashes op vrijdag. Hij heeft zich goed herpakt en dat laat zien dat hij iemand met karakter is. We weten dat hij nieuw is in Europa en dat de concurrenten veel meer ervaring hebben, maar hij laat zien dat hij uit het goede racehout is gesneden.

Stefano was vandaag weer met het mes tussen de tanden en hij heeft er alles aan gedaan om te kunnen winnen. Hij heeft heel beheerst gereden dus petje af voor hem. Dit is het beste weekend dat we met hem gehad hebben in de afgelopen drie seizoenen dus alle credits voor hem en de mensen aan zijn kant van de box. In het algemeen kunnen we zeer blij zijn dat we zo goed gescoord hebben waardoor we aan de leiding gaan in zowel het rijderskampioenschap als het teamkampioenschap. Het was een perfect weekend voor ons.”

De volgende ronde van het World Superbike kampioenschap wordt verreden in het weekend van 16 t/m 18 mei op het Autodrom Most in Tsjechië.

Manzi takes phenomenal victory after fierce battle in Cremona, Okamoto closes in on points

Stefano Manzi won the first World Supersport race at the Cremona Circuit on Saturday afternoon. The Italian was under heavy pressure from the competition all the way to the finish, but by defending the lead well, he secured his second win of the season. Yuki Okamoto achieved his best result so far with a sixteenth-place finish.

Under sunny and warm conditions, the first World Supersport race got underway at 15:15h on Saturday afternoon at the Cremona Circuit. Starting from third on the grid, Stefano Manzi made a strong start and had taken the lead by halfway through the opening lap. He then had to give it up again but reclaimed the top position in the twelfth lap.

Manzi maintained a strong pace but was unable to shake off his rivals. In the final stages of the race, he faced several attacks but managed to respond each time. Ultimately, he crossed the finish line first and secured his second win of the season, his twelfth in the World Supersport class. Manzi has now achieved sixteen consecutive podium finishes (since Race 2 in Magny-Cours, 2024), equaling the record set by Kenan Sofuoglu. With 150 points to his name, Manzi has now extended his lead in the championship to 30 points.

Yuki Okamoto also had a good start, moving into the top twenty from 22nd on the grid. As the race progressed, the Japanese rider continued to make up ground and eventually finished sixteenth – his best result so far in the World Supersport class.

Stefano Manzi (P1):
“This victory feels amazing. It was not an easy race because we had a big fight with the group in front. In the beginning of the race I thought my pace was better than the rest, but I couldn’t maintain it so I had to battle with the group behind me. Fortunately I was able to win that battle and stay in front, so I could finally take another win again. However, we have to stay focused because tomorrow there’s another race. We need to remain constant.”

Yuki Okamoto (P16 / +28,194):
“I have been struggling a bit this weekend, but in this first race we finished in 16th place. I will try to improve for tomorrow and do my very best again in Race 2. I want to thank the team and I am grateful for their work. Let’s see if we can get a bit further forward.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“What a fantastic victory for Stefano here in his home race, he fought like a lion. We knew his race pace was excellent; our strengths are mainly in the twisty sections, while we lose some time on the long straight. We’ll have to see if we can do something about that for tomorrow’s race. In any case, it was amazing how he took control of this race. We know we’re always a bit stronger towards the end of the race – we’ve developed the bike with that in mind together with Stefano.

Yuki also had a very good day and came very close to scoring points. He had to start from far back and set his fastest lap in the sixteenth lap. That shows he still needs a bit more rhythm and experience on European circuits – we’ll be working hard on that. The more mileage he gets, the better he understands the machine. We’re confident we can make him faster tomorrow.”

The second World Supersport race at the Cremona Circuit will start again at 15:15h on Sunday afternoon.

Onder zonnige en warme omstandigheden ging zaterdagmiddag 15:15 uur de eerste World Supersport race van start op het Cremona Circuit. Vanaf de derde plaats op de grid maakte Stefano Manzi een goede start en halverwege de openingsronde had hij al de leiding in handen. Deze moest hij vervolgens weer afstaan maar in de twaalfde ronde kwam de Italiaan terug aan kop.

Manzi wist een sterk tempo te rijden maar kon de concurrentie niet afschudden. In de slotfase van de race werden er meerdere aanvallen op hem ingezet maar de Italiaan kon telkens terugslaan. Uiteindelijk kwam hij als eerste over de finish en behaalde hij zijn tweede overwinning van het seizoen, zijn twaalfde in de World Supersport klasse. Manzi heeft nu zestien podiumfinishes op rij behaald (sinds Race 2 in Magny-Cours, 2024) en daarmee het record van Kenan Sofuoglu geëvenaard. Met 150 punten achter zijn naam heeft Manzi de voorsprong in het kampioenschap nu uitgebouwd naar 30 punten.

Yuki Okamoto kwam ook goed weg en schoot vanaf de 22e plaats op de grid meteen de top twintig binnen. Naarmate de race vorderde kwam de Japanner steeds verder naar voren waarna hij uiteindelijk als zestiende over de finish kwam, tot dusver zijn beste resultaat in de World Supersport klasse.

Gelukkig kon ik dat gevecht winnen en vooraan blijven, waardoor ik eindelijk weer een overwinning kon pakken. We moeten echter gefocust blijven, want morgen is er weer een race. We moeten constant blijven presteren.”

Yuki Okamoto (P16 / +28,194):
“Ik heb het dit weekend een beetje lastig gehad, maar in deze eerste race zijn we als zestiende geëindigd. Ik ga proberen me morgen te verbeteren en weer mijn uiterste best doen in Race 2. Ik wil het team bedanken en ben dankbaar voor hun werk. Laten we kijken of we morgen nog iets verder naar voren kunnen komen.”

“Wat een geweldige overwinning voor Stefano hier in zijn thuisrace, hij heeft gevochten als een leeuw. We wisten dat zijn racetempo uitstekend was, alleen liggen onze sterke punten voornamelijk in het bochtige gedeelte en verliezen we wat op het lange rechte stuk. We moeten kijken of we daar nog iets aan kunnen doen voor de race van morgen. Hoe dan ook was het geweldig hoe hij deze race naar zich toe heeft getrokken. We weten dat we altijd wat sterker zijn richting het einde van de race – daar hebben we de motor ook naartoe ontwikkeld met Stefano samen.

Yuki had ook een hele goede dag en kwam heel dicht in de buurt van de punten. Hij moest van ver komen en reed zijn snelste rondetijd in de zestiende ronde. Dat laat zien dat hij nog iets meer ritme en meer ervaring op de Europese circuits nodig heeft: daar gaan we hard aan werken. Hoe meer kilometers hij maakt, hoe beter hij de machine begint te kennen. We weten zeker dat we hem morgen sneller kunnen maken.”

De tweede World Supersport race op het Cremona Circuit gaat zondagmiddag opnieuw om 15:15 uur van start. Manzi zal dankzij zijn rondetijd in Race 1 vanaf de tweede plaats starten, Okamoto vertrekt opnieuw vanaf P22.

Manzi claims front row start with season-best qualifying in Cremona, Okamoto in 22nd

On Friday afternoon, Stefano Manzi qualified third for the first World Supersport race at the Cremona Circuit in Italy. It marks his best qualifying result of the season so far and the first time in 2025 that the Italian will start Race 1 from the front row. Yuki Okamoto qualified 22nd for the opening World Supersport race in Cremona.

This weekend marks the fourth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship, held at the Cremona Circuit in Italy. Friday saw bright sunshine, with ambient temperatures around 30°C and track temperatures exceeding 50°C, making conditions particularly warm on the short but demanding circuit.

The day began with a Free Practice session in which Stefano Manzi finished sixth, while Yuki Okamoto posted the 28th fastest time.

In the afternoon, the Superpole session took place under the intense heat, posing a challenge for both riders and machines. In the final moments of the session, Manzi clocked a 1’31.843, missing pole position by just 0.115 seconds and securing third on the grid—his best qualifying performance of the season. Teammate Okamoto had a more difficult session and ended up 22nd on the timesheets after a crash.

Stefano Manzi (P3 | 1’31.843 / +0,115):
“It was a solid day for us, because immediately this morning we had a good feeling with our bike on this track. However, with the high track temperatures the grip level was quite low, which made things a bit tricky. We achieved our best qualifying result of the year, so we are continuing our growth which I’m very happy with. The team did a great job and we are ready to race. Our pace is not too bad, so hopefully we can make some improvements tomorrow morning and then we’re ready to race. I’m looking forward to it.”

Yuki Okamoto (P22 | 1’33,206 / +1,478):
“Unfortunately I crashed twice to day, once in Free Practice and once in Superpole. Apologies to the team. Together we will work hard this evening to make sure we are prepared for the race. I will give it my all.”

“The first day here in Cremona is done, under tropical conditions. Stefano and his side of the box did a fantastic job—he was fast right from the first lap. For Yuki, it was a tough day with crashes in both Free Practice and Qualifying. There are certainly still some challenges, and as a team we’ll work hard to take a step forward for tomorrow. Hopefully, we can also help him close the gap and fight for points.”

The first World Supersport race over 20 laps at the Cremona Circuit will start on Saturday afternoon at 15:15h.

 


Manzi behaalt beste kwalificatieresultaat tot dusver in Cremona, Okamoto kwalificeert zich als 22e

Stefano Manzi heeft zich vrijdagmiddag als derde gekwalificeerd voor de eerste World Supersport race op het Cremona Circuit in Italië. Het is het beste kwalificatieresultaat van dit seizoen tot dusver voor de Italiaan, en de eerste keer in 2025 dat hij in Race 1 vanaf de eerste startrij mag beginnen. Yuki Okamoto kwalificeerde zich als 22e voor de eerste World Supersport race in Cremona.

Dit weekend wordt de vierde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Cremona Circuit in Italië. Op vrijdag scheen de zon fel en was het met een buitentemperatuur van zo’n 30°C en een asfalttemperatuur van ruim 50°C behoorlijk warm op het korte maar uitdagende circuit. De dag begon met een vrije training waarin Stefano Manzi als zesde eindigde en Yuki Okamoto de 28e tijd reed.

’s Middags werd de Superpole sessie verreden en met de hoge temperaturen was dat uitdagend voor zowel de coureur als de machine. Met een 1’31.843 in de slotfase van de sessie kwam Manzi slechts 0,115 seconde tekort op pole position en eindigde hij daarmee als derde, zijn beste kwalificatieresultaat van dit seizoen. Teamgenoot Okamoto kende een moeizamere sessie en eindigde na een valpartij als 22e op de tijdlijst.

Stefano Manzi (P3 | 1’31.843 / +0,115):
“Het was een solide dag voor ons, want we hadden vanmorgen meteen een goed gevoel met onze motor op dit circuit. De hoge baantemperaturen zorgden echter voor weinig grip, wat het wat lastig maakte. We hebben ons beste kwalificatieresultaat van het jaar behaald, dus we blijven vooruitgang boeken en daar ben ik erg blij mee. Het team heeft geweldig werk geleverd en we zijn klaar om te racen. Ons tempo is niet slecht, dus hopelijk kunnen we morgenochtend nog wat verbeteringen aanbrengen en dan zijn we er klaar voor. Ik kijk ernaar uit.”

Yuki Okamoto (P22 | 1’33,206 / +1,478):
“Helaas ben ik vandaag twee keer gecrasht, één keer tijdens de vrije training en één keer in de Superpole. Mijn excuses aan het team. Samen gaan we vanavond hard werken om ervoor te zorgen dat we goed voorbereid zijn op de race. Ik zal alles geven.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“De eerste dag zit erop hier in Cremona onder tropische omstandigheden. Stefano en zijn kant van de pitbox hebben het geweldig gedaan, hij was vanaf de eerste ronde al heel snel. Zijn tempo is uitstekend en het ritme is ook absoluut aanwezig. Het zit allemaal heel dicht bij elkaar dus het zal morgen spannend worden, maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat Stefano morgen een goed resultaat kan behalen.

Voor Yuki was het een zware dag met een crash in de vrije training en de kwalificatie. Er liggen zeker nog wat uitdagingen en als team zullen we vanaf hard werken om voor morgen een stap te maken. Hopelijk kunnen we dan ook met hem de aansluiting vinden richting de punten.”

De eerste World Supersport race over 20 ronden op het Cremona Circuit gaat zaterdagmiddag om 15:15 uur van start.

Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing aims to continue strong form with Manzi and Okamoto in Cremona

This weekend marks the fourth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship, taking place at the Cremona Circuit in Italy. It is only the second time the World Superbike Championship visits this Northern Italian track, which made its calendar debut last September. Stefano Manzi will look to extend his lead in the world championship on home soil, while Yuki Okamoto will race for the first time this year on a circuit he has previously ridden at.

Following a hectic home race at the TT Circuit Assen, the next challenge awaits Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing this coming weekend. After a very strong start to the season with five second-place finishes and one victory for Stefano Manzi, the team leads the World Supersport Championship with their Italian rider. The goal for the weekend is to further increase the 14-point lead. Last year, Manzi finished second in Race 1 and claimed victory in Race 2.

Yuki Okamoto has faced significant challenges in recent weeks, showing a steep learning curve. The Japanese rider has adapted well to unfamiliar environments and has proven to learn new circuits quickly. At the Cremona Circuit, Okamoto first got acquainted with the Yamaha YZF-R9 and the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team last November, meaning fewer surprises await him this weekend.

Stefano Manzi:
“I’m very happy and excited to have another race weekend ahead of us. Cremona is a good track for us, because last year we went there for the first time and it went quite well. We finished second in Race 1 and managed to win Race 2, so our memories of Cremona are good. I’m excited to continue the work with our new bike, because I think we are not showing the full potential at the moment. I want to work with the team to make sure we are in the best shape possible with the new bike, even though we are already performing well. I think there is still room for improvement so I cannot wait to get started on Friday morning.”

Yuki Okamoto:
“After the race weekend in Assen I went back to Japan and spent some quality time at home. Cremona is up next and will be an important race for us. I think I will be able to ride well from the beginning because we already tested there last year in November. I’m looking forward to join the team again and continue working together.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“We are all set to compete in Cremona this weekend. The team is in good shape and we already tested here last November with the R9. That means we already have some data on this circuit with the new machine. Stefano and Yuki are also in great form and we are all well prepared, so we’re looking forward to picking up the season again after the busy weekend in Assen.”

The race weekend at the Cremona Circuit kicks off on Friday morning with a free practice session, followed by the Superpole session starting at 16:00h on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning begins with a warm-up session, after which Race 1 starts at 15:15h and will run for 20 laps. On Sunday the same schedule applies, with a warm-up session in the morning and Race 2 starting at 15:15h in the afternoon.

 


Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing wil huidige vorm doorzetten met Manzi en Okamoto in Cremona

Dit weekend wordt de vierde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Cremona Circuit in Italië. Het is de tweede keer dat het World Superbike kampioenschap op het Noord-Italiaanse circuit in actie komt, nadat het circuit afgelopen september op de kalender debuteerde. Stefano Manzi zal op eigen bodem zijn voorsprong in het wereldkampioenschap uit willen breiden terwijl Yuki Okamoto dit jaar voor het eerst op een circuit zal racen waar hij al eerder heeft gereden.

Na een hectische thuisrace op het TT Circuit Assen staat aankomend weekend de volgende uitdaging te wachten voor Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing. Na een zeer sterke start van het seizoen met vijf tweede plaatsen en één overwinning voor Stefano Manzi staat het team aan de leiding van het World Supersport kampioenschap met hun Italiaanse rijder. De doelstelling van het weekend is dan ook om de voorsprong van veertien punten verder uit te breiden. Vorig jaar finishte Manzi als tweede in Race 1 en won hij Race 2.

Yuki Okamoto stond de afgelopen weken zeer grote uitdaging te wachten waarbij hij een steile leercurve heeft laten zien. De Japanner heeft zich goed weten aan te passen aan de voor hem nieuwe omgevingen en laten zien dat hij de circuits snel leert. Op het Cremona Circuit maakte Okamoto afgelopen november voor het eerst kennis met de Yamaha YZF-R9 en het Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team waardoor er hem dit weekend minder grote verrassingen te wachten staan.

Stefano Manzi:
“Ik ben erg blij en enthousiast dat we weer een raceweekend voor de boeg hebben. Cremona is een goed circuit voor ons, want vorig jaar waren we daar voor het eerst en dat ging best goed. We werden tweede in Race 1 en wisten Race 2 te winnen, dus we hebben goede herinneringen aan Cremona. Ik kijk ernaar uit om het werk met onze nieuwe motor voort te zetten, want ik denk dat we op dit moment nog niet het volledige potentieel laten zien. Ik wil samen met het team werken om ervoor te zorgen dat we in de best mogelijke vorm zijn met de nieuwe motor, ook al presteren we nu al goed. Ik denk dat er nog ruimte is voor verbetering, dus ik kan niet wachten om vrijdagochtend te beginnen.”

Yuki Okamoto:
“Na het raceweekend in Assen ben ik teruggekeerd naar Japan en heb ik wat ‘quality time’ thuis doorgebracht. Cremona is de volgende race en wordt een belangrijke voor ons. Ik denk dat ik vanaf het begin goed zal kunnen rijden, omdat we daar vorig jaar in november al getest hebben. Ik kijk ernaar uit om weer bij het team aan te sluiten en samen verder te werken.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“We zijn weer helemaal klaar om dit weekend aan te treden in Cremona. Het team is in goede vorm en we hebben hier afgelopen november al getest met de R9. Daardoor beschikken we al over de nodige informatie op dit circuit met de nieuwe machine. Stefano en Yuki zijn eveneens in goede vorm en we zijn allemaal goed voorbereid, dus we kijken ernaar uit om het seizoen na het drukke weekend in Assen weer op te pakken.”

Het raceweekend op het Cremona Circuit begint op vrijdagochtend met een vrije training waarna de Superpole sessie vrijdagmiddag om 16:00 uur van start gaat. Zaterdagochtend is er eerst nog een warm-up sessie waarna Race 1 over 20 ronden ’s middags om 15:15 uur begint. Op zondag geldt hetzelfde tijdschema als op zaterdag met ‘s ochtends een warm up sessie en Race 2 ‘s middags om 15:15 uur.

Manzi and Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing take another podium in Assen and extend their lead in the championship

Stefano Manzi finished second once again on Sunday afternoon in the second World Supersport race at the TT Circuit Assen. The Italian fought for the victory all the way to the finish line, further extending his lead in the championship. Manzi has now stood on the podium in all six WorldSSP races this season.

After a very sunny and warm Saturday at the TT Circuit Assen, Sunday began with rain and cooler temperatures. However, the sun came out during the day, and conditions were good for the second World Supersport race of the weekend. Starting from pole position, Manzi got off to a strong start and immediately took the lead.

What followed was a thrilling race in which Manzi led for almost the entire time. The Italian had a large group of riders chasing him but managed to defend his position well. Right up to the final corner, Manzi was battling for the win with Öncü before ultimately finishing second. This means the Italian has been on the podium in all six races of the 2025 season so far, with a total of 125 points to his name.

Yuki Okamoto had a difficult opening lap but managed to find a good pace afterward. The Japanese rider steadily made his way forward during the race and eventually crossed the finish line in sixteenth place – his best result in the World Supersport class so far.

Stefano Manzi (P2 / +0,012):
“It was a solid race and I was leading for a long time, but unfortunately not at the moment when it counted. I had to put the bike straight to avoid hitting Can. It was a good race until the final corner. Of course I’m not fully satisfied with the race but it is a good result for the championship. Now we go to Cremona, where I have good memories because I managed to win there last year. It’s a good track for me and I like it, but it will be very challenging because a lot of riders are competitive.”

Yuki Okamoto (P16 / +29,160):
“I had a difficult race today. I need to improve, especially in the beginning of the race. However, I think I am able to do this so together with the team we need to keep working. Our next race is in Cremona and I have already had some time on the bike there, so I think we can show some progress there.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager:
“It was another strong day for the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team, with Stefano maintaining his 100% podium record. Another second place while we were in the fight for the win throughout the race. Of course, that’s a bit disappointing because the potential was definitely there. To lose a race in the Geert Timmer chicane is always a shame. We’ll take a look at what we need to work on with Stefano in the coming period — after all, the project with the R9 is still quite new.

For Yuki, it’s now clear that we mainly need to focus on qualifying in the upcoming weekends. We are confident that he can make a step forward and score his first points in Cremona.

Looking back on the whole weekend, it’s obviously fantastic to finish on the podium twice during our home race, with lots of activities for our sponsors and partners off-track. It was a great weekend that we can all look back on with a lot of satisfaction.”

The next WorldSBK race weekend will take place from May 2 to 4 at the Cremona Circuit in Italy.

 

 

Manzi en Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing pakken opnieuw een podium in Assen en bouwen voorsprong in kampioenschap uit

Stefano Manzi is zondagmiddag wederom als tweede gefinisht in de tweede World Supersport race op het TT Circuit Assen. De Italiaan wist tot aan de eindstreep voor de overwinning te vechten waarmee hij zijn voorsprong in het kampioenschap verder heeft uitgebreid. Manzi heeft dit seizoen nog in alle zes WorldSSP races op het podium gestaan.

Na een zeer zonnige en warme zaterdag op het TT Circuit Assen begon de zondag regenachtig en koeler. Gedurende de dag kwam de zon tevoorschijn en tijdens de tweede World Supersport race van het weekend waren de omstandigheden goed. Vanaf pole position begon Manzi sterk aan de race en nam hij meteen de leiding in handen.

Er volgde een spannende race waarin Manzi vrijwel constant aan de leiding reed. De Italiaan had een grote groep belagers achter zich rijden maar wist zijn positie goed te verdedigen. Tot aan de laatste bocht was Manzi in een strijd voor de overwinning verwikkeld met Öncü waarna hij uiteindelijk als tweede eindigde. Hiermee heeft de Italiaan in alle zes races in 2025 nog op het podium gestaan en een totaal van 125 punten achter zijn naam staan.

Yuki Okamoto kende een moeizame openingsronde maar wist vervolgens een goed tempo te rijden. De Japanner kwam gedurende de race steeds verder naar voren en passeerde de finish uiteindelijk als zestiende, zijn beste resultaat in de World Supersport klasse tot dusver.

Stefano Manzi (P2 / +0,012):
“Het was een solide race en ik reed lange tijd aan de leiding, maar helaas niet op het moment dat het ertoe deed. Ik moest de motor rechtop zetten om te voorkomen dat ik Can raakte. Het was een goede race tot aan de laatste bocht. Natuurlijk ben ik niet helemaal tevreden over de race, maar het is een goed resultaat voor het kampioenschap. Nu gaan we naar Cremona, waar ik goede herinneringen aan heb omdat ik daar vorig jaar heb gewonnen. Het is een goed circuit voor mij en ik vind het leuk, maar het wordt een grote uitdaging omdat veel rijders competitief zijn.”

Yuki Okamoto (P16 / +29,160):
“Ik had vandaag een moeilijke race. Ik moet me verbeteren, vooral aan het begin van de race. Maar ik denk dat ik dat kan, dus samen met het team moeten we blijven werken. Onze volgende race is in Cremona en ik heb daar al wat tijd op de motor doorgebracht, dus ik denk dat we daar vooruitgang kunnen laten zien.”

Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“Het was weer een sterke dag voor het Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team met Stefano die zijn 100% podiumscore blijft waarborgen. Opnieuw een tweede plaats terwijl we de hele race meededen voor de overwinning. Dat is natuurlijk een beetje teleurstellend want het potentieel was er zeker. Om een race uit handen te geven in de Geert Timmer chicane is natuurlijk altijd erg jammer. We gaan kijken waar we de komende tijd aan moeten werken met Stefano, het project met de R9 is natuurlijk nog steeds behoorlijk nieuw.

Voor Yuki is nu duidelijk dat we de komende weekenden vooral moeten werken aan de kwalificatie. Dan zijn we ervan overtuigd dat hij een stap naar voren kan maken en in Cremona de eerste punten kan gaan pakken.

Terugkijkend op het hele weekend is het natuurlijk geweldig om twee keer op het podium te eindigen in onze thuisrace met naast de baan veel activiteiten voor onze sponsoren en partners. Het was een heel mooi weekend waar we met z’n allen zeer tevreden op terug kunnen kijken.”
