This weekend, the fourth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary. Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing has fond memories of the brand-new circuit, having secured a double victory there last year.
In 2025, the Balaton Park Circuit appeared on the World Superbike calendar for the first time, hosting its inaugural World Championship races. The track is just 4.08 kilometers long and is characterized by no fewer than five chicanes. Thanks to its location near Lake Balaton, it is also an attractive destination for fans.
After achieving his first podium finish for Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing in Assen, Can Öncü’s goal this weekend will be to once again fight at the front of the highly competitive World Supersport field and reduce his gap to the championship leader. Yuki Okamoto has shown steady progress over recent race weekends and will once again aim to score points in Hungary.
Can Öncü:
“After a difficult start to the season, it was great to finally achieve my first podium finish for the team. I’m happy with what we showed during the weekend in Assen, but I want more, and I hope we can achieve that this weekend in Hungary. The Balaton Park Circuit suits my riding style a bit better, so I’ll do my best to achieve strong results here.”Yuki Okamoto:
“It will be the first time at Balaton Park for me this weekend, but I am looking forward to ride there. I know there will not be a lot of time to learn the track, but our target is still to score some points. The race weekend at the Balaton Park Circuit begins with a free practice session on Friday morning, followed by the Superpole session at 16:00 in the afternoon. After a warm-up session on Saturday morning, Race 1 will take place at 14:00. Sunday follows the same schedule, with a morning warm-up and Race 2 at 14:00.
Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing klaar om strijd aan te gaan op Balaton Park Circuit
Dit weekend wordt de vierde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Balaton Park Circuit in Hongarije. Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing heeft goede herinneringen aan het gloednieuwe circuit aangezien er vorig jaar een dubbele overwinning werd behaald.
In 2025 stond het Balaton Park Circuit voor het eerst op de World Superbike kalender en werden er voor het eerst WK-wedstrijden verreden. Het circuit is slechts 4,08 kilometer lang en wordt gekenmerkt door maar liefst vijf chicanes. Vanwege de ligging vlakbij het Balatonmeer is het een aantrekkelijke bestemming voor fans.
Na het behalen van zijn eerste podiumfinish voor Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing in Assen zal het voor Can Öncü dit weekend het doel zijn om zich weer vooraan in het competitieve World Supersport veld te laten zien, en zijn achterstand op de WK-leider te verkleinen. Yuki Okamoto heeft de afgelopen raceweekenden gestage groei laten zien en zal in Hongarije opnieuw mikken op punten.
Can Öncü:
“Na een lastige seizoenstart was het fijn om eindelijk mijn eerste podiumfinish voor het team te behalen. Ik ben blij met wat we in het weekend in Assen is hebben laten zien maar ik wil meer, en ik hoop dat dat dit weekend gaat lukken in Hongarije. Het Balaton Park Circuit past iets beter bij mijn rijstijl dus ik ga mijn best doen om hier goede resultaten te behalen.”Yuki Okamoto:
“Het is dit weekend de eerste keer voor mij in Balaton Park en ik kijk ernaar uit om daar te rijden. Ik weet dat er niet veel tijd zal zijn om de baan te leren kennen, maar ons doel is nog steeds om wat punten te scoren. Het raceweekend op het Balaton Park Circuit begint met een vrije training op vrijdagochtend waarna ’s middags om 16:00 uur de Superpole sessie van start gaat. Na een warm-up sessie op zaterdagochtend wordt ’s middags om 14:00 uur de eerste race van het weekend verreden. Op zondag wordt hetzelfde programma gehanteerd met een warm-up sessie in de ochtend en Race 2 om 14:00 uur.
