This coming weekend, the seventh round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. After a difficult weekend in Spain, Can Öncü, Yuki Okamoto, and the entire Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team have worked hard to regain their previous form at the Italian venue.
With six race weekends completed and six still to go, the 2026 season has now reached its halfway point. The next stop is the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, one of the circuits that has been a fixture on the World Superbike calendar for many years. Although the track features virtually no elevation changes, its layout presents a significant challenge for the riders and often produces exciting racing. Combined with its beautiful setting on the Adriatic coast, Misano is regarded as one of the favourite venues by many within the paddock.
After claiming an impressive five consecutive podium finishes from Race 2 in Assen through to Race 2 in Most, Can Öncü endured a challenging weekend at MotorLand Aragón. As a result, the Turkish rider saw his gap to the championship leader increase, but his motivation and determination remain as strong as ever to reduce that deficit again in Misano.
Following his positive weekend in Most, Yuki Okamoto was unable to add another points-scoring finish in Aragón. However, the Japanese rider is increasingly establishing himself among the top fifteen competitors in the highly competitive World Supersport Championship. At a circuit where many of the Italian riders have extensive experience, it will be a significant challenge, but one that Okamoto and the team from Nieuwleusen are eager to take on.

Through both motorcycle training and physical workouts in the gym, he has been working on fine-tuning every detail. Can took a week off following his participation in the tyre test in Aragón and the training sessions he completed at home afterwards. Both riders are ready to start this weekend feeling refreshed, at a circuit we always enjoy visiting.
It is a track where both riders have traditionally been strong, so once again our goal will be to fight for a podium finish with Can, while aiming for a points-scoring result with Yuki.”
The race weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli begins with a free practice session on Friday morning, followed by the Superpole session at 16:00 in the afternoon. After a warm-up session on Saturday morning, Race 1 will get underway at 14:00. On Sunday, a revised schedule will be in place, featuring another warm-up session in the morning, followed by Race 2 at 15:15.
Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing wil vorm herpakken op iconisch Misano
Aankomend weekend wordt de zevende ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Na een moeizaam weekend in Spanje hebben Can Öncü, Yuki Okamoto en het hele Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team hard gewerkt om de oude vorm op het Italiaanse circuit te herpakken.
Met zes voltooide raceweekenden en nog zes te gaan is het seizoen 2026 nu precies halverwege. De volgende stop is het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, één van de circuits die al sinds jaar en dag onderdeel is van de World Superbike kalender. Ondanks dat er geen hoogteverschil is zorgt de lay-out voor een flinke uitdaging voor de rijders, en zijn de wedstrijden er meestal spannend. In combinatie met de prachtige omgeving aan de Adriatische kust staat Misano bij vrijwel iedereen hoog op het lijstje van favorieten.
Nadat Can Öncü van Race 2 in Assen tot en met Race 2 in Most maar liefst vijf podiumfinishes op rij behaalde volgde een uitdagend weekend op Motorland Aragón. Hiermee heeft de Turkse coureur zijn achterstand op de leider in het kampioenschap zien groeien maar de motivatie en werklust zijn onverminderd groot om dat in Misano weer te reduceren.
Het positieve weekend in Most kon Yuki Okamoto in Aragón niet opvolgen met opnieuw een puntenfinish, maar de Japanner laat zich steeds vaker zien in de top vijftien van het competitieve World Supersport kampioenschap. Op het circuit waar met name de Italiaanse coureurs zeer veel ervaring hebben zal dat een flinke uitdaging worden, maar het is een uitdaging die Okamoto met het team uit Nieuwleusen graag aangaat.
Can Öncü:
“Ik ben erg enthousiast voor de ronde van Misano en kijk ernaar uit om weer aan de slag te gaan. Tijdens de test op MotorLand Aragón hebben we veel verbeteringen doorgevoerd, dus ik kan niet wachten om weer op mijn motor te stappen. Racen in Italië is altijd een geweldige ervaring, dus ik hoop dat we een sterk weekend kunnen neerzetten.”Yuki Okamoto:

Daarnaast zal ook de hospitality vol zitten met onze vaste supporters die Misano komen bezoeken voor de spectaculaire races maar ook de prachtige omgeving en het Italiaanse leven.Yuki heeft een goede trainingsweek gehad waarbij hij met zijn eigen team meerdere circuits heeft bezocht. Met trainingen op de motor maar ook fysieke trainingen in de sportschool zal hij proberen de puntjes op de i te zetten. Can heeft een week rust genomen na de deelname aan de bandentest in Aragón en de dagen die hij daarna thuis nog heeft getraind. Beide rijders zijn klaar om weer fris aan dit weekend te beginnen, op een circuit waar we altijd graag komen. Het is een circuit waar beide coureurs altijd sterk zijn dus zullen we opnieuw het podium als doelstelling zien voor Can en op een puntenfinish mikken met Yuki.”
Het raceweekend op het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli begint met een vrije training op vrijdagochtend waarna ’s middags om 16:00 uur de Superpole sessie van start gaat. Na een warm-up sessie op zaterdagochtend wordt ’s middags om 14:00 uur de eerste race van het weekend verreden. Op zondag wordt een afwijkend programma gehanteerd met wederom een warm-up sessie in de ochtend en Race 2 om 15:15 uur.
