This weekend, the eighth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary. It will be the first time since 1990 that racing returns to Hungary, and the first-ever World Championship event to be held at the newly constructed circuit. Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing will compete with only Stefano Manzi, as Yuki Okamoto is still recovering from his injury.
The Balaton Park Circuit is located near the famous Lake Balaton and just an hour’s drive from the Hungarian capital, Budapest. The track features seventeen corners — ten left-handers and seven right-handers — and with a length of just 4.07 kilometres, it is one of the shorter circuits on the calendar.
Following a victory in Race 1 and a seventh-place finish in Race 2 at Donington Park, Stefano Manzi and Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing are determined to once again fight for the win at Balaton Park. The championship lead currently stands at 45 points, and the goal is to extend that advantage during the upcoming race weekend.

“I am happy that we have another race weekend ahead of us. I’m looking forward to get back on the bike and work with the team again. The Balaton Park circuit is a new track for us, so it will be a challenging weekend. I have seen some on board videos but nothing more, so I am curious to see if it will suit our bike. “This weekend marks our first time racing at Balaton Park, and with Donington still fresh in our minds, it’s good for our rhythm to have several races in quick succession. Stefano, the team, and the Yamaha R9 are all in great form, so we need to maintain that momentum this weekend. We’re all looking forward to heading to Balaton Park — a new circuit and unknown territory for most. Unfortunately, we’ll only be racing with Stefano this weekend as Yuki is still recovering from his injury. We hope to welcome him back after the summer break. Our focus this weekend is solely on Stefano, and we’ll aim to score the maximum points with him.”
- The race weekend at Balaton Park Circuit begins with a free practice session on Friday morning, followed by the Superpole session at 16:00 in the afternoon, which will determine the starting grid for Race 1.
- After a warm-up session on Saturday morning, Race 1 will start at 15:15 in the afternoon and will be run over 18 laps.
- On Sunday morning there will be another warm-up session followed by Race 2 over 18 laps, once again starting at 15:15.
Manzi en Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing klaar voor raceweekend in Hongarije op nieuw Balaton Park Circuit
Aankomend weekend wordt de achtste ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Balaton Park circuit in Hongarije. Het is voor het eerst sinds 1990 dat er weer geracet wordt in Hongarije, en voor het eerst dat er een WK-wedstrijd georganiseerd wordt op het nieuw aangelegde circuit. Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing zal alleen met Stefano Manzi aan de start verschijnen aangezien Yuki Okamoto nog niet hersteld is van zijn blessure.
Het Balaton Park circuit ligt vlakbij het bekende Balaton meer en op slechts een uur rijden van de Hongaarse hoofdstad Budapest. Het circuit telt zeventien bochten waarvan er tien linksaf gaan en zeven rechtsaf. Met een lengte van slechts 4,07 kilometer is het één van de kortere circuits op de kalender.
Na een overwinning in Race 1 en een zevende plaats in Race 2 op Donington Park zijn Stefano Manzi en Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing erop gebrand om wederom voor de overwinning te strijden op het Balaton Park circuit. De voorsprong in het kampioenschap bedraagt op dit moment 45 punten en het doel is om dat in het komende raceweekend uit te breiden.

“Ik ben blij dat we weer een raceweekend voor de boeg hebben. Ik kijk ernaar uit om weer op de motor te stappen en samen met het team aan de slag te gaan. Het Balaton Park-circuit is een nieuw circuit voor ons, dus het wordt een uitdagend weekend. Ik heb een paar onboard-video’s gezien maar verder nog niets, dus ik ben benieuwd of het circuit bij onze motor past. Laten we ervoor zorgen dat we met een goed gevoel de zomerstop ingaan.”Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager:
“We gaan dit weekend voor het eerst racen op Balaton Park en we hebben Donington nog fris in het geheugen zitten, dus het is goed voor het ritme dat we nu meerdere wedstrijden achter elkaar hebben. Stefano, het team en de Yamaha R9 zijn allemaal in topvorm dus we moeten zorgen dat we dat dit weekend vasthouden. We kijken allemaal uit om naar Balaton Park te gaan, een nieuw circuit en voor de meesten onbekend terrein. Helaas komen we dit weekend alleen met Stefano in actie omdat Yuki nog niet hersteld is van zijn blessure. We hopen dat we hem na de zomerstop weer terug kunnen verwelkomen. De focus ligt dit weekend dus alleen op Stefano en we gaan proberen om met hem maximaal te scoren.”
- Het raceweekend op het Balaton Park circuit begint met een vrije training op vrijdagochtend waarna ’s middags om 16:00 uur de Superpole sessie begint. Hierin wordt de startopstelling voor de eerste race bepaald.
- Na een warm up sessie op zaterdagochtend gaat ’s middags om 15:15 uur de eerste race over 18 ronden van start.
- Op zondagochtend wordt er opnieuw een warm-up sessie verreden, met de start van Race 2 over 18 ronden wederom om 15:15 uur.
